Malta enjoys a very low crime rate. Children
can play outside in an absolute safety, and all areas are safe to
walk or drive around at night. It is not unusual for locals to leave
their front door key in the lock!
Non-Maltese residents have made their homes throughout Malta in
towns and villages. They are readily welcomed and accepted by the
local people, most of whom speak good English, and it is easy for
them to become actively involved in a wide range of social, sporting
and cultural activities.

Permanent Residents may even vote in local council elections. Malta
is the place in the Mediterranean for sun - fun and night life,
which varies from the café society to Operas, Plays, Jazz
Festivals, ballroom dancing, ballet, art exhibitions, Period re-enactments,
Casinos, Clubs, discos, cinemas, an ice skating ring, plenty of
restaurants serving excellent food at reasonable prices, to the
Hard Rock Café, and another multitude of pubs/bars open till
very late. There is also a British Residents Association which regularly
organises social and cultural events. Any national is welcome to
join this association.
