On a hill above the entrance to Portomaso stands Spinola Palace, built by the Italian Knight Fra Paolo Raffaele Spinola in the 17th Century, overlooking the picturesque bay which still bears his family name.

Acclaimed as one of the most charming houses of the period, Spinola Palace and its majestic gardens were originally built "for the public entertainment", so it fitting that the tradition of fine leisure facilities should continue here at Portomaso.

Malta's best waterfront address occupies an area of some 127,000 square metres (31 acres) bordering a 340 metre stretch of shoreline in addition to its luxury apartments and marina, this innovative development also includes an upmarket commercial centre, comprising a business park and a convention centre, with office accomodation in the adjacent tower. Quality bars, restaurants and shops will also be a feature of Portomaso, whose inner marina basin is bordered by the magnificent five-star hotel, managed by Hilton International which opened in March 2000.
