The Plaza is at the very heart of Tigné
Point. The place to be, to see, to be seen in - 8,500 square metres of
cosmopolitan lifestyle with a unique Maltese dimension. The sound of fountains
in the square will evoke the planned open spaces of European cities, the
splash of the nearby waves will embellish this with a Mediterranean charm.
In many ways, the Plaza will represent the essence and spirit of Tigné
Point - the perfect balance between leisure and living. A balance enhanced
by use of building material and design. Throughout, spaces are multi-functional,
designed to create different environments, changing moods and diverse
uses.

The Plaza itself is flanked by a series of blocks
that create its character and provide a suitable backdrop for a cosmopolitan
lifestyle. In addition, the Belvedere and the spacious Pjazza, offer a
flexible space to cater for all types of social, cultural and commercial
events.
A three-storey underground car-park provides ample parking facilities.
The surrounding blocks each have a retail function at ground level, with
the upper levels consisting of a series of duplex apartments that can
function as office suites, or else as residential apartments. These blocks
create volumes that comfortably shift the sense of scale from that of
residential to that of recreational, thus creating an attractive environment
for retail investors, apartment dwellers and small-scale offices. The
aim of the Plaza is to achieve a balance between active and passive activities
catalysing a very particular lifestyle. In this respect, the Plaza is
designed to reflect different atmospheres and stimulate different activities.
Retail
The Plaza offers in excess of 2,200 square metres for retail and catering
activities. The shops and boutiques, which are internally linked to storage
at
Level -1, are directly accessed through the Pjazza, thus achieving a truly
dynamic retail environment that brings the location to life.
Offices
Standing independently on the north side of the Plaza is an eight floor
trophy office block comprising 8,000 to 10,000 metres of modern office
space with floors accommodating upwards of some 800 square metres of
usable office space per floor. The architecture of this office block reflects
the
contemporary nature of the whole development. Further “community
type”
office space is located in the lower rise buildings around the south and
east
end of the Pjazza. Ground floor space in these buildings is dedicated
for
retail use.
Boulevard and Belvedere
The pedestrian link between Tigné North and Tigné South
has been formed
by a “boulevard” lined with trees. This connection between
the two
waterfronts, with breathtaking views, gives it a strong classic character
and
a unique quality. Towards the south, this boulevard is concluded
dramatically by the Belvedere, a sculpture providing access from the Pjazza
level to that of Tigné Sea Front and ferry point quay.
Tunnel Relief Road
The north-south axis is partially terminated by the mouth of the Tunnel
Relief Road. The area above this mouth is transformed into an area of
water and landscaping where you can sit and enjoy the unique views of
Valletta and Manoel Island that can only be trulyappreciated from this
perspective.
The Main Pjazza
The openness of the Pjazza contrasts with the enclosed, quieter streets,
terraces and gardens that characterise Tigné South. Spaces are
multifunctional and have been designed to provide different atmospheres
from shaded intimate areas to large open areas ideal for meetings, performances
and so on. The rest of the Pjazza is divided into two main areas, one
slightly lower than the other. The northern half, which benefits from
a full exposure to the sun, is depressed to create a vaguely defined seating
area. The remainder is envisaged as a multi-purpose assembly area, generally
quiet and sedate, and dominated by the sound of water, but on occasions
lending itself to more dynamic events.
